The piercing gaze of wolves eyes, or the shy glance of a monkey, inspiration for my animal images is about quiet moments, an intimate connection between animal and viewer, a feeling of being let into their world for just a moment. I am inspired by their shapes, line, textures and movements. Using digital processing techniques I bring out the animal’s natural textures in their coats, feathers, or skin. I want the world to see them as I see them, their unique beauty, and their special place in our world.
I love to explore the world in shapes, light, line and perspective. Landscape, nature, and portraiture (both animals and people), are some of my favorites to photograph. Growing up between Woodland Park Zoo and Green Lake in Seattle, it gave me plenty of opportunity to learn about animals, nature, and the busy city. .
